Gus Hansen is a favorite to many poker players of today. Known for his beyond reckless style of play, his willingness to play any two cards, his incredible reading ability, and his superb play after the flop, Gus is respected and feared by almost every poker player today. He describes himself as a mathematical, aggressive player. This is one guy you definitely don’t want to see at your table. Before poker, Gus was an aggressive, ranked backgammon player. His backgammon experience gives him a bit more of an edge over most poker players because of the concepts that are more stressed in backgammon over poker. Gus was also drafted into the military by lottery in Denmark. He says that the experience was good for him and he would do it again. Hansen has been extremely successful in the tournament circuit,. He has placed first in three WPT events, including the WPT Bad Boys Tournament, and he won an LA Poker Classic in 2003. Besides his tournament victories, Gus was one of the first players to be inducted into the World Poker Tour Walk of Fame, and he was voted in the top 50 sexiest men alive by People magazine. Gus is single and loving it. He says he enjoys his freedoms of being single, not having to answer to anyone.
