Robert Varkonyi entered the 2002 WSOP main event where many people saw him as "Dead Money," a donkey, a newbie, so most people didn't see him holding enough skill to win. Phil Hellmuth said he would shave his head if he won. Well, Robert went on to play his best game and ended up winning the whole thing, earning a cool two million in prize money. Besides winning the money and getting the bracelet, he got Phil Hellmuth to shave his head for his win (which he did to live up to his word and for charity). Prior to winning the main event, Robert graduated from MIT and was an investment broker in Brooklyn, NY. Currently, Robert is an active columnist for Card Player magazine, and is married to his wife Olga, and has a daughter named Victoria.
